A blog about dogs, compassion and learning Theory
Mind and Manners is a blog by Sarah, a Vancouver based professional dog trainer, and features her dogs Percy, and Eleanor. As an ex-biochemist Sarah values a scientific approach to training and loves to get nerdy when it comes to figuring out what makes our dogs tick.
Mind…
Sarah has a passion for teaching dogs all sorts of interesting things. By stimulating their mind, she believes that they learn to better communicate with us and we with them. Dogs are capable of amazing things if we take the time to explore their potential.
Mental enrichment through training leads to dogs who are more confident, more intelligent, better behaved and who experience a better quality of life.
…And Manners
We all want a perfect pooch by our side but sometimes our dream doesn’t match our reality. Sarah believes in bridging this gap using fair, compassionate methods grounded in established science.
Sarah coaches her clients to: manage their dogs environment in order to set them up for success, train polite behaviours which replace poor ones, and help dogs overcome fear, aggression, reactivity and anxiety through behaviour modification practices. Sarah believes in practicing mindful training skills, in order to nurture the best parts of your dogs’ personality.
